A healthy and diverse network of Gateways is key for AR.IO to realize its vision of creating the First Permanent Cloud Network. To encourage the network's growth and resilience, AR.IO is excited to announce the Gateway Operator Incentive Program.

GOIP aims to support the development of a robust, decentralized network of gateways that will serve as the backbone of the permaweb. By offering ARIO token incentives, we seek to attract passionate, committed, and capable operators willing to contribute to the network's long-term success.

Participants in the program will be expected to operate a gateway in whatever way is appropriate for their use case as long as it complies with network standards.

Up to 50 teams will be supported through the program with initial grants and additional opportunities for recognition and growth:

• Teams will receive an initial ARIO grant that is at least sufficient to join the network.

• A 12-month delegation from the foundation will also be provided.

• Participants can retain both the grant and any earnings generated.

• Teams demonstrating exceptional commitment, community engagement, and contributions to the network’s growth and protocol development will be eligible for further grants.

This is a critical step in our path to mainnet and the realisation of the network’s goals to decentralize access to the Permaweb.

New and existing gateway operators are eligible to apply.

GOIP Eligibility Criteria

As part of the minimum requirements for participating in the GOIP, applicants must:

• Commit to operating a gateway for 1 year and maintain healthy network performance.

• Successfully complete a due diligence screening process

Additional criteria that may influence the selection process include:

• Existing contributions to AR.IO Network.

• Existing contributions to Arweave.

• Existing contributions to the broader web3 ecosystem.

• Interest in contributing to the ongoing development of the protocol and tooling.

• Quality and diversification of infrastructure.

• Operation within a location that improves the diversity of the geolocation of Gateways.

• Potential to support further growth of the permaweb from within and outside the Arweave ecosystem.
