Overview
Many DAOs were a flash in the pan in 2022, but some continue to thrive. DeveloperDAO is one of the latter, with a strong and growing community of more than 1200 members.
DevDAO’s mission is simple and compelling: to accelerate the education and impact of the next wave of web3 developers.
And because they are developers, they work with protocols that let them build on the cutting edge of web3.
This is why DevDAO was keen to partner with AR.IO to create the first community gateway.
The First Community Gateway
While creating online courses for AR.IO (more on this later) it inspired DevDAO to operate their own AR.IO gateway. But rather than have a single operator, DevDAO built the first community-run gateway on the AR.IO network.
As they put it, “Decentralising access to blockchain networks is as crucial as decentralising the network itself, as without it, your ability to access the network can be taken away. We’re proud to play our role in supporting this effort.”
The DevDAO gateway - arweave.developerdao.com - is ultimately owned and governed by the DevDAO community.
For DevDAO there are two big advantages:
A community-run gateway supports the decentralization of Arweave
It also sustainably funds the DAO via potential network rewards during AR.IO Network’s mainnet

Accelerating Developer Education
As mentioned above DevDAO was inspired to run an AR.IO gateway while creating courses on getting started in the AR.IO ecosystem.

Note that these aren’t the usual bland AI-generated repackaging of existing content. The content is original, goes deep and is instructive even for Arweave OGs.
