Use case 05
Permanent Assets
Preserve digital assets with durable integrity, provenance, and long-term access.
Path through the permanent cloud
Digital asset
Arweave record
ar.io gateways
Verifiable asset history
Ar.io lets teams preserve digital asset media and metadata, then retrieve and verify them across applications. The network provides upload tooling, gateway caching and delivery, indexing, verification, and readable names, with Arweave as the permanent source.
This gives gaming studios, marketplaces, and asset platforms a durable reference for what an asset represents.
Why permanent asset records matter
A game item or collectible can outlive the product that introduced it. Its media and metadata should not disappear when a server, storage contract, or platform does.
When teams publish an asset through ar.io, its media and metadata become immutable permanent records. ar.io gateways let clients retrieve and verify those records as platforms evolve.
Asset record capabilities
Permanent media and metadata
Use ar.io tools to publish asset files and metadata as immutable records. Updates create new records instead of silently replacing earlier versions.
Verifiable origin and change history
Transaction identifiers and timestamps give applications a stable record to reference. ar.io verification lets clients check retrieved bytes against the permanent source.
More than one retrieval path
Asset media can be retrieved through independent ar.io gateways during migrations or provider outages. Applications are not tied to one delivery endpoint.
Large asset libraries
ar.io upload, bundling, and retrieval tools support collections containing many asset records.
References across products and versions
ar.io gateway addresses and ArNS names let applications reference asset records across product releases and environments.
Who this is for
- Game studios managing long-lived in-game assets
- Digital asset and collectible platforms
- Marketplaces requiring verifiable asset integrity
- Platforms hosting user-owned virtual goods
- Teams migrating away from fragile or temporary storage systems
What breaks without durable asset records
If an asset loses its media, metadata, or history, owners and marketplaces can no longer verify what it represents.
ar.io keeps the asset connected to a permanent source record beyond the lifespan of an individual platform.
Build durable digital assets
Use the ar.io Console or the developer documentation to store asset media and metadata, then retrieve it through ar.io gateways.
