iExec x AR.IO: Building a Decentralized Future with Privacy, Permanence, and Programmable Messaging

In a digital world increasingly shaped by data ownership, privacy, and permanence, iExec and AR.IO have joined forces to push the boundaries of what's possible in decentralized infrastructure. This collaboration was derived from a shared vision: to create a world where users retain full control over their data, communications are confidential by design, and critical information lives on indefinitely.

Learn how iExec leveraged the AR.IO Network and Arweave to supercharge their Web3Messaging tools, blending decentralized confidential compute with permanent, censorship-resistant storage.

The iExec Mission: Privacy Made Easy

iExec empowers developers to build privacy-first applications through a full stack of tools for confidential computing and programmable governance. Using Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), iExec enables apps to process sensitive data without ever exposing it — a powerful capability in a world where privacy is often compromised.

Their broader mission is clear:

“We’re creating a world where every transaction, dataset, and application contributes to a safer, more private, and shared economy for users.”

To fulfill this mission, iExec has developed tools like Web3Telegram and Web3Mail, part of the Web3Messaging suite, which enable seamless, privacy-preserving communication between Ethereum accounts where no personal identifiers are required.

The Challenge: Ephemeral Messaging in a Permanent World

Before integrating with AR.IO, iExec faced a core limitation, their Web3Messaging stack handled confidential compute exceptionally well, but lacked a robust solution for permanent, verifiable storage. Historically, they defaulted to IPFS for encrypted data, but IPFS has limitations around permanence and reliability.

The Solution: AR.IO’s Permanent Cloud Network

The AR.IO Network, built on Arweave, offers a global ecosystem of gateways that ensure any piece of data, can be stored forever, verifiably, and beyond the reach of censorship or manipulation.

Through this integration iExec now has a decentralized, tamper-proof, and censorship-resistant storage layer which provided a way to make encrypted messages not only private, but also permanent.

This means that messages sent through Web3Telegram can now be stored permanently on the permaweb, accessible through any AR.IO Gateway and provably unchanged.

“With iExec Web3Messaging tools like Web3Telegram, developers can let their users interact with platforms in a fully decentralized way while protecting one of crypto’s core values: the freedom to stay anon.”
Ricardo Kanaan, Ecosystem Manager at iExec

Web3Telegram: A Private, Permanent Messaging Layer for Web3

Web3Telegram is a tool that lets users send encrypted messages via Telegram, while completely hiding their Telegram handles and chat IDs. It connects Ethereum accounts, not user identities, preserving the anonymity that Web3 was built to protect.

Here’s how it works:

  • Users manage messaging access through their wallet, not through centralized permissions.

  • No Telegram data is ever revealed.

  • With AR.IO, developers can choose to store encrypted messages permanently, verifiably, and without needing to build custom infrastructure.

This privacy-first messaging system is now backed by permanent storage, creating a new messaging primitive: Decentralized Confidential Execution + Decentralized Storage.

Real-World Adoption: 6 Projects and Counting

The AR.IO x iExec integration isn’t just theoretical. It’s already powering six active Web3 projects, each with its own community of users and privacy-first use cases:

  • Otomato: No-code Web3 automation with private Telegram alerts stored permanently via AR.IO.

  • 1xBuild: AI-generated newsletters delivered anonymously via Telegram, backed by permanent storage.

  • Incentive Finance: Sends DeFi market and recovery alerts without exposing user identity.

  • TempWallets: Real-time burner wallet alerts with full confidentiality.

  • DexPal: Serves over 80,000 monthly DeFi users with private, permanent portfolio updates.

  • More coming soon: iExec continues to onboard new builders looking to combine confidential messaging with immutable storage.

These integrations collectively serve tens of thousands of users, expanding the AR.IO ecosystem by making permanent storage a default setting in privacy-first apps.

Unlocking a New Stack for Web3 Developers

The partnership between iExec and AR.IO signals a broader shift in how decentralized applications are built. Web3 is maturing beyond smart contracts and wallets and it now includes permanent messaging, confidential compute, and immutable storage as native building blocks.

The result? A developer stack where:

  • Compute is confidential via iExec

  • Storage is permanent and accessible via AR.IO

  • Communication is encrypted and verifiable

  • Users remain anonymous and sovereign

This convergence is critical to the future of decentralized finance, private social media, and even decentralized AI.

The Broader Vision: A Fully Decentralized Cloud

AR.IO and iExec share a long-term vision that aligns with the Permanent Cloud outlined in our vision:

“Just as Bitcoin revolutionized money, AR.IO introduces the world’s first permanent cloud — a decentralized, blockchain-powered network that redefines how data, applications, and digital identities are stored and accessed.”

Together, AR.IO and iExec are showing how that future can be built with privacy-preserving tool at a time.

Looking Ahead

With thousands of users already leveraging Web3Messaging backed by AR.IO, and more projects on the horizon, the integration between iExec and AR.IO is a strategic step toward a resilient, censorship-resistant, and private web.

Stay tuned for new tools, more builders, and continued collaboration between these two networks driving the decentralized revolution forward.
